Went thru a major house-cleaning / waste management exercise over the year-end. As a part of the exercise, we decided to separate organic waste from the kitchen into a separate bin; paper and recyclables were binned separately; ewaste was separately binned.
Paper and recyclables were later binned separately in separate cartons for:
paper
plastic
Other recyclables
...and
eWaste was seggregated as:
- eWaste
- batteries
- CDs
We have started composting the kitchen waste at home. Will cover that in a future post. So far - no issues. And the stuffed alimrahs are lighter, the rooms are looking cleaner, have more energy in them.
By improving our waste management and recycling abilities, we are taking a small step towards reducing our carbon footprint. And coupled with our solar water heater, we are improving our green rating.
